Four Americans were kidnapped in Mexico while traveling for medical tourism. They went to Mexico to get cheaper medical care or access to treatments that aren't available in the US. Medical tourism is becoming more popular, with over a million Americans traveling overseas for medical care in 2017. Some common procedures for medical tourism include dental care, surgery, cosmetic surgery, fertility treatments, organ and tissue transplants, and cancer treatment.

Mexico A Medical Heaven

Mexico is a popular destination for medical tourism, with an estimated 1.4 to 3 million people coming into the country for treatment in 2020. Americans can save 40-60% on the most common major procedures by going to Mexico for medical care. However, there are risks involved, such as lower quality of care, communication difficulties with medical staff, and the possibility of violence.
Medical tourists may also face complications if something goes wrong during their treatment or if they have a pre-existing medical condition. It's important for people to carefully consider the risks and benefits of medical tourism before traveling overseas for treatment.
