We seem to be reminded that it's the "most lovely time of the year" practically wherever we go. It's a seasonal motif that's difficult to avoid, from joyful music to endlessly upbeat movies.

But what if it's not so great this time? What if it's your first holiday following a split or divorce? Or perhaps you're just single and dreading spending another New Year's Eve alone yourself, or as an awkward third, fifth, or ninth wheel? The holidays may cause more anxiety for some people than joy.

But ladies, let's enjoy our holiday singledom rather than let it bring us down.

Being single can be a terrific experience with the correct attitude. Christmas may be the finest time of year to be single if you give it some thought. You don't have to worry about finding the ideal gift, you can use your free time in whatever you like, and you can pack your kitchen with Christmas cookies without worrying about anybody else eating them.

It's time to abandon the notion of the lonely, depressed single over the holidays. Here's how to make the most of your Christmas alone.

Bring Together Your Single Friends

You must not be the only single person you know, right?

Get together with all of your single buddies right away and go out on the town. You should be out having the most of your life, not sitting through a meal with your in-laws like your partnered-up friends are forced to do.

single friends

Together with your single friends, schedule a regular date night and alternate choosing interesting activities. And step outside of your comfort zone; visit a museum or go on a hike rather than spend another evening at dinner and drinks.

Make a date for yourself

You don't need a date companion to go on a date, shocking!

You can go out by yourself because, in all honesty, who could be finer company than your own?

Take that book you've been meaning to read for months and head to your favorite eatery to spend a few phone-free hours there. Or try something you wouldn't typically do on a "typical date," like taking an art class or going on a hike at dusk.

Going completely solo for a while is like pressing the reset button. We all need a few hours to ourselves now and then just to be sane. You don't have to go all philosophical or spiritual about it.

Travel by yourself

Why not make the most of your alone time by embarking on a lengthy vacation?

Traveling over the holidays is ideal, especially if you've already had time off work. And traveling alone is the best option. Yes, it initially seems intimidating, especially if you're used to traveling with family and friends. But if you get used to it, there's a freedom you'll never know while you're with other people. You get to make all the decisions, plan the schedule, and decide where to have supper.

The absence of a photographer is the sole drawback. perhaps make a selfie stick purchase?

Watch whatever you want to binge on

There is nothing more enjoyable than curling up on the couch for hours when the weather outside is dreadful.

Take advantage of this opportunity to watch all the shows you've been meaning to over the past year on your own. So prepare a supply of food, load Netflix, and huddle up with a soft blanket.

binge watch

The Crown and all the other series your pals have been gushing about are finally available for you to watch. There's no shame in binge-watching The Office for the tenth time while sipping copious amounts of wine or hot cocoa during the holidays.

And as a single woman at Christmas, you don't have to make any concessions over who gets to handle what.

Lean Toward Singleness

Hopefully having all this time to yourself has helped you realize that being single is pretty awesome.

It's fantastic to have a bed to yourself without someone taking the sheets and to have total control over the music in the car.

Therefore, the moment has come for you to truly embrace your single status.

But if you're having trouble accepting it, don't worry; there are a tonne of resources on the internet that can assist you. Start by finding Facebook groups for people in your situation or listening to podcasts that are all about enjoying being single. You'll soon be enjoying being single AF. also during Christmas!
